This Friday, Nov. 7,  the Professional Disc Golf Association’s (PDGA) 11th Annual Piney Woods Open. Competitors will gather from around the nations to compete in three rounds of disc golf. 

A clinic will be held as a part of the event at 4 p.m. featuring an instructor who was the  2010 World Champion team from Emporia, Kansas. The clinic is open to anyone with an interest in disc golf.

"Lindsey Park is one of the premier disc golf facilities in the country and players from throughout the United States will come to Tyler to play in The Piney Woods Open,” said Will Harvey, spokesperson for the Rose City Disc Club. “We will have players from all over Texas, and from as far away as California and Virginia."

Disc golf is played on the same format as traditional golf. The goal is to get the disc into the hole in the least number of throws, Harvey explained.

“Everyone is invited to bring the family out and experience one of the fastest growing sports in the world at one of the best disc golf complexes in the country right here at Lindsey Park,” said Harvey.
