Kiefer Sutherland has made abundantly clear his intent to leave 24 breakout Jack Bauer behind, but FOX can’t say the same of its onetime flagship franchise. Spinoff-reboot 24: Legacy has officially been ordered to series with Walking Dead star Corey Hawkins in the lead, while Sutherland has agreed to executive produce.

Along with Lee DanielsEmpire companion Star, FOX has officially confirmed a series order for 24: Legacy, albeit starting things off with a 12-episode order, comparable to the 24: Live Another Day revival in 2014.

Hawkins stars as Eric Carter, former Army Ranger and military hero returning to the U.S. with “trouble that follows him back — compelling him to ask CTU for help in saving his life, and stopping what potentially could be one of the largest-scale terror attacks on American soil.” Also cast in the series are Homeland alum Miranda Otto, Jimmy Smits and Dan Bucatinsky.

Original producing team and showrunners Manny Coto and Evan Katz are also aboard, with Howard Gordon and Brian Grazer executive producing. We’ll hear more details from FOX’s Upfront presentation, so stay tuned for the latest on 24: Legacy.
