I think it's safe to say everyone has seen an episode of 'Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives' - whether it was a a re-run at 2 am or on YouTube. But I feel the mayor of Flavor Town unintentionally neglects our region of Texas. So this is an attempt to convince Guy Fieri to come to our neck of the piney woods, because our local restaurants have a lot to offer.

Let's see if y'all agree with me on this localized list - in no particular order - for the TV show 'Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives'.

Jucy's

I don't think anyone here will argue that Jucy's Hamburgers - an East Texas gem - should get a highlight reel from 'Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives'. It's local so you can't find it anywhere outside of East Texas, it's kind of divey (still clean, though!) like true burger stands should be, and they make my favorite burger in the area.

Stanley's

If you visit Tyler for the first time, someone is bound to suggest going to Stanley's Famous Pit Bar-B-Q. So if Guy Fieri just walked into the East Texas city, he'd be bad at his job if he missed out on some of the best BBQ our state has to offer. Their cocktails are pretty great too, especially when there's live music and it's springtime.

Take me to Flavor Town: Three Plate Combo  (must at least have brisket) - or - the Mother Clucker.

The Diner

It's in the name, people! The Diner in Tyler is a go-to local breakfast spot for me and while I do like a few other restaurants for breakfast, this one's local (sorry Original Pancake House and IHOP, we still love y'all!).

Take me to Flavor Town: French Toast (Texas Monthly ranks it among the best) - or - Pollo Blanco Tacos.

Taqueria El Lugar

Speaking of tacos, Tyler has a ton of Mexican and Tex-Mex restaurants to choose from. But I find that hole-in-the-wall establishments (small and divey) do best and that's why there's an entire show on Food Network about them. Taqueria El Lugar is plain and simple, but that's sometimes exactly what you need. They have bomb-dot-com street tacos (sorry, I'm channeling Guy Fieri for this article) and has a small, quaint atmosphere.

Country Tavern

This is Texas... you can swing a dead cow in any direction and find some amazing BBQ. Country Tavern Barbecue in Kilgore has a long tradition of serving delicious comfort food and top-notch BBQ.

The Shed

The Shed in Edom was recommended to me when I was asking about some of the best chicken fried steak, but what really hooked me was the pie. It's got a bonafide cafe feel that serves virtually any Texas comfort food you can think of. And yes, you can have all of them.

Take me to Flavor Town: Just order the pie first like everyone says.

You may not agree with me, but remember, this list isn't just about your favorite restaurant. The spot in question has to fall into the category of the show name - so it should be a diner, drive-in or a dive.

If you've watched the show, you know Fieri doesn't just show off the whole menu - he sticks with one or two at each restaurant. Let's come up with a master list of the best dishes at these spots for Guy Fieri to try.
