The popular 6x6 Painting Party in a Box kits are back at Gallery Main Street in Tyler. The kits include supplies for people to get together and create 6x6 art to support the fundraiser exhibit opening at 6 p.m. on June 6.

The box contains basic paint supplies for a party of ten people with 30 small canvases, brushes, acrylic paint in basic colors that can be mixed, paper towels, palette knives, inspiration images, instructions and more.

“These kits proved to be very popular last year,” said City of Tyler Main Street Department Leader Beverly Abell. “We’ve already been asked several times when the kits will be available, so we are happy to announce that the time has arrived.”

The kits are free, but canvases must be brought back to the gallery as part of the exhibit along with unused art supplies. Kits may be checked out on a first-come, first-served basis.

The art will be included in the exhibit and sole for $20 per canvas with the funds going back to Gallery Main Street.

“Though we are a City of Tyler department, we do have to fundraise a good portion of our operational budget,” Abell said. “We feel 6x6@110 is an excellent way to engage artists and the public in that mission while still furthering the arts downtown as well.”
