Turn Tyler Pink hits downtown Tyler from 4-6 p.m. on Tuesday October 14th. An event designed to raise awareness and support for all women battling cancer, it's sure to be fun and educational.

The event takes place on the square in downtown Tyler and will be emcee'd by Brandon Davidson. Live entertainment will be provided by various Tyler ISD organizations, firefighter clowns from Mabank and a fire safety house from Van Fire Department.

Tyler Fire Department will have it's fire trucks on display including an antique fire truck that was donated with the purpose of painting it pink. Other activities include, face painting, health screenings and a blood drive.

T-shirts and pink flags are on-sale benefiting the Tyler Fire Fighter's CARE fund (Cancer Awareness Relief Effort.) Shirts and caps are on-sale now at Cavender's, Gallery Main Street and Holiday Inn at 5701 S. Broadway.

The event donates money to the CARE fund as well as the local Susan G. Komen Foundation and Tyler's American Cancer Society.

In addition to the downtown event, Tyler Firefighters have worked with TISD to encourage campus competitions in raising awareness. Last year the students were encouraged to wear pink with the winning campus showing 79% participation, according to Turn Tyler Pink's Facebook Page.
