Listen to Alessia Cara’s ‘How Far I’ll Go’ From Disney’s ‘Moana’
Walt Disney Animation has released the audio for Alessia Cara's "How Far I'll Go," the title song for the company's upcoming feature film Moana. The animated feature film is due to hit theaters on Nov. 23.
"How Far I'll Go" is written by Hamilton creator Lin-Manuel Miranda and is a light, upbeat tune that fits in with the film's theme of journey and self-discovery. "I've been standing at the edge of the water / Long as I can remember, never really knowing why / I wish I could be the perfect daughter / But I come back to the water, no matter how hard I try," Cara sings. "If the wind in my sail on the sea stays behind me / One day I'll know, if I go there's just no telling how far I'll go."
Moana features the voices of Auli'i Cravalho and Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, and tells the story of a 16-year-old princess of Motunui Island named Moana (Cravalho), a born navigator who braves the seas with a demigod named Maui (Johnson) in search of a mystical island.
The picture is the 56th animated film by Disney and is directed by John Musker and Ron Clements. Musker and Clements have previously such Disney classics as Aladdin and The Little Mermaid.
