Alicia Keys was branded with the scarlet "H" -- the none-too-coveted "homewrecker" title -- when she and Swizz Beatz made their relationship public, because Swizz was still legally married at the time. And now she's speaking out about the rumors.

The 'Girl on Fire,' who stuns on the cover in short curls, natural makeup and a strapless white dress, singer told Jet magazine (via Miss Jia) that the label isn't only unfair, but also unwarranted. "[They] were apart for some time before we ever got together," Keys said in the Nov. 26 issue. "That doesn't matter to those who take pleasure in trying to knock others down, there’s no need to fight what’s not true." Amen, Alicia!

Keys, who is typically quite private about her personal life, opened up about her marriage to Beatz and why they make such a good pair. "I’d never met a person where I could be fully myself," Keys said. "Swizz and I live in each other’s shadow. So we can occupy the same space and there is nothing but equality. There’s something really powerful about that."

Keys and Beatz are parents to two-year-old son Egypt and recently purchased a swanky pad from none other than actor Eddie Murphy. Despite whatever was going on between Beatz and his previous wife, Mashonda, the pair currently look like a picture perfect unit to us.
