Competition for your Christmas dollars just got hotter. Amazon announced that for a limited time all things would ship for free.

We don't have specifics yet on what 'limited time' means, but it is likely done to compete with retail giants like Target, who is offering free two-day shipping for all customers through December 22.

With Black Friday deals, and the reduced shipping costs of retail stores, Amazon appears to want in the game. Investopedia.com referenced a study performed by the National Retail Federation, Americans will be spending more money on gifts in 2018 than they did last year. Holiday sales are expected to increase 4.3 and 4.8 percent over 2017 – $717.45 billion to $720.89 billion.

Amazon said, “This holiday, customers can enjoy free shipping with no minimum purchase amount on orders that will arrive in time for Christmas, including items from Amazon’s expertly curated Gift Guides across electronics, fashion, home, and toys.”

I haven't even begun my holiday shopping, and realized today Thanksgiving is two weeks from tomorrow. Maybe I should spend 15 minutes online today to get started!

If you're a Prime Member like I am, and wondering what we get out of this... well not much... but we do still get our things in two days for free. The free shipping announced today is for five to eight business days.
