In a Stroke of Karmic Justice, Ashton Kutcher Felt Sick Playing Steve Jobs

Ashton Kutcher felt so sick right before filming his biopic of Steve Jobs that he had to be hospitalized, the way most of us feel knowing that the onscreen and essentially real life Kelso was given a serious dramatic role.

Kutcher adopted Jobs’ “fruitarian” diet, which basically says you can only eat fruit — no meat, no dairy, no vegetables, no grains and for God’s sake get your head out of the gutter — and it hurt like Hell.

The ‘Punk’d’ star was pretty much trying out method acting, which we figured he did for ‘That 70′s Show’ too. He interviewed Jobs’ friends, watched hundreds of hours of footage and pored over the Apple wunderkind’s speeches as well. None of those gave him the complications that diet did, though.

“[The diet] can lead to some serious problems,” Kutcher revealed to Us Weekly. “[I] ended up in the hospital two days before we started shooting the movie.”

Jobs, who died of pancreatic cancer at age 56, adopted the diet in hopes of curing himself instead of using pesky things like legitimate research, science and medicine.

Kutcher had pancreatic issues of his own from fruitarian dieting.

“I was like doubled over in pain, and my pancreas levels were completely out of whack, which was completely terrifying, considering everything,” he admitted.

Even scarier than the health problems? Having to play a real dude people liked.

“It’s portraying a guy who just passed away that is really fresh in people’s minds, that people are really passionate about, and care about, and have an opinion about — that’s really scary,” Kutcher said. “Especially portraying a guy that I really admire … it’s terrifying, it’s terrifying!”

Not just for you, bro.
