Kelly Clarkson can cross another item off of her long list of accomplishments. Arguably the most famous ‘American Idol‘ alumna, Clarkson’s single ‘Stronger (What Doesn’t Kill You)’ off her album ‘Stronger’ became the best-selling ‘Idol’ single of all time, even knocking fellow ‘Idol’ winner Carrie Underwood back to second place. Underwood held the title when her single ‘Before He Cheats’ was released.
In the biggest shocker since Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes announced they were divorcing, we kid, Adele, Nicki Minaj and One Direction have some of the biggest-selling albums of 2012 according to the Neilsen SoundScan. So far. But don’t be surprised if these two stay on top for the long haul, because the youngins and not so youngins seem to love One Direction, Minaj, and Adele.
Miley Cyrus has been having a busy couple of weeks. The 19-year-old singer/actress got engaged (before us — we’re still kind of bitter about it), is supposedly in the process of having her tattoos removed, and is now featured on a track called ‘Morning Sun’ by Rock Mafia.
Christina Perri hasn’t released a single since ‘A Thousand Years,’ which garnered a lot of attention thanks to the movie ‘Twilight: Breaking Dawn Part 1,’ where the world first heard it as an exclusive track for the film. But the singer is back, along with Jason Mraz, and has released a video for her song ‘Distance,’ off of her debut album ‘Lovestrong.’
Our lovers in Maroon 5 performed on ‘The Today Show’ this morning (June 29) as part of the Toyota Summer Concert series and someone — we’re looking at you Adam Levine — forgot to hand us our formal invite. Fans even waited in line to see the band since 4 am during that crazy rain and thunderstorm, but no worries, because Adam totally heard about your dedication.
Poor Usher. He can barely catch a break with his actual ex-wife Tameka Foster, as the two are in the middle of a custody battle over their two sons after she claimed he was a terrible father. But now the singer has to deal with a crazed woman claiming to be married to him. That s— cray. (Are people still saying that?)
Lord help that 19-year-old Miley Cyrus if she made it to the altar before we did. She got engaged before we did, so technically there’s a good chance she’ll get married before we do (Snooki “wah”), but are her and fiancee Liam Hemsworth already married?!
If you haven’t already picked up Maroon 5‘s newest album ‘Overexposed,’ then you should probably march yourself over to the nearest corner and sit for a time out. We’re basically a walking advertisement for the album for two reasons: 1) We’re hoping Adam Levine will somehow notice us; and 2) The bonus tracks on the album are pretty sick.
One of the biggest songs from the past year, Jessie J‘s ‘Domino,’ is easily one of the catchiest songs around. But it looks like her hit single may have been borrowed from another singer’s line of work — a huge no-no in any type of industry. The singer is now being sued for copyright infringement.
How’s this for some happy news? Rockers Fun. gave kids at the New York-Presbyterian Morgan Stanley Children’s Hospital a visit they won’t soon forget. Last week, the band popped into the hospital to perform an acoustic set, hoping to lift the children’s spirits.
Sometimes we wonder what it’d be like if we were famous – -mind you, in our warped minds, we’re total A-listers — and if we’d share personal photos of our kids on Twitter. But Jessica Simpson just shared an adorable picture of her baby girl Maxwell Drew and that seals the deal for us; we’d totally post pictures of our kids solely because we’d hope someone, somewhere, would be writing an article much like this one.
It’s funny how stories seem to just fall into our laps at the right time. Like this one about a bride who SANG as she walked down the aisle. Here we are, actually watching our favorite episode of ‘Brideszillas’ ever featuring Karen Refaeli from Staten Island, when we happen upon this gem.
