Another ‘Austin Powers’ Sequel Could Still Swing Its Way Into Theaters

Unlike most comedy sequels, the Austin Powers franchise only became more successful at the box office with each additional outing (sorry, Neighbors 2), with Austin Powers in Goldmember generating $300 million worldwide. It’s been 14 years since Mike Myers last donned the mop-top and spouted a bunch of delightfully cheesy innuendoes, and though we may not be any closer to a fourth Austin Powers outing, director Jay Roach says it could still very much happen.

‘Garfield’ Is Getting a New Animated Movie, Must Be Monday

Ugh, Mondays. You know who hates Mondays? Garfield. As in the lazy, lasagna-loving talking cat from those comic strips you snatched out of your parents’ newspaper every week. As in the cat that inspired not one, but two mediocre movies featuring the voice of Bill Murray. Like Mr. Murray, you’ve likely forgotten all about those movies, and Alcon Entertainment is probably banking on that, which is why they’re developing another new Garfield movie.

Are You Ready For a ‘Benji’ Reboot? Good, Because You’re Getting One

If studio developments in recent years have taught us anything, it’s to expect the unexpected when it comes to reboots and adaptations. From upcoming movies based on video games like Centipede and Tetris to the Jumanji reboot, it’s as if studios are plucking titles from the Least Likely pile (where is my Easy Bake Oven movie already?). The latest movie to get the unexpected reboot treatment is Benji — you know, the feel-good doggy adventure movie from 1974, which many of you probably remember best from its near-constant presence on The Disney Channel in the ’80s and early ’90s.

‘Star Trek Beyond’ Trailer: The Enterprise Faces Its Boldest Threat Yet

If you weren’t particularly sold by the first trailer for Star Trek Beyond, then you may find the latest preview for Justin Lin’s sequel far more persuasive. It has a bit of everything: emotion, drama, epic intergalactic action, and Idris Elba as a menacing new villain unlike any the crew of the Enterprise has faced before. One thing is clear: this isn’t your average Trek mission.

Jennifer Lawrence Will Return For More ‘X-Men’…Under One Condition

Jennifer Lawrence isn’t contracted for another X-Men sequel, but back in March she seemed pretty happy about the possibility of returning for more films. It’s been two months since then, and while Lawrence appears to be a little less eager about it now, she says that she’ll reprise the role of Raven…there’s just one thing that has to happen. Or maybe two.

‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2’ Gives Krang a New Voice

Not long ago it was rumored that SNL vet Fred Armisen would be the voice of Krang in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows (they really couldn’t go with a shorter title there, huh?). We’ve seen the beloved brainy villain in the trailers for the sequels, but we haven’t heard him speak just yet — and there may be a reason for that, as Armisen has apparently been replaced.

Dwayne Johnson Is Building a Robert Ludlum Cinematic Universe, Of All Things

A “Robert Ludlum Cinematic Universe” seems like a fairly unlikely concept, but it has been attempted before — when Matt Damon exited the Bourne franchise, Universal tried to keep the series going with Jeremy Renner in The Bourne Legacy. While that chem-riddled experiment failed, the studio is attempting something a bit more ambitious, reuniting Dwayne Johnson with The Rundown screenwriter James Vanderbilt for a new franchise based on Ludlum’s other, non-Bourne titles.

Michael Bay Goes Medieval on Official ‘Transformers 5’ Title

What, you didn’t think Michael Bay would actually give his new Transformers sequel a silly title like Transformers 5, did you? Of course not. As with its predecessors, the next installment in the franchise has been given a lengthier, more regal name, and is now officially titled Transformers: The Last Knight. Arise, Sir Optimus Prime.

ABC Cancels ‘The Muppets’ After Just One Baffling Season

Despite an attempt to turn things around with a new showrunner in the middle of the first season, The Muppets hasn’t really caught on with audiences the way ABC had hoped. What once seemed like a surefire hit (it’s the Muppets!) turned into a bizarre experiment (it’s a meta-fake-documentary series!) before ultimately becoming an interesting failure (shrug emoji), at best. The short version: ABC has cancelled The Muppets after just one season.

Jack Black in Talks to Join Dwayne Johnson in ‘Jumanji’ Reboot

It might be getting a little more difficult for Jumanji loyalists to remain skeptical of the reboot. As if the casting of Dwayne Johnson weren’t enough for you, today brings word that Jack Black is in talks to join the cast, while it appears that Johnson’s Central Intelligence co-star Kevin Hart has officially signed on. If you aren’t even remotely enticed by the prospect of watching those three get into shenanigans with an assortment of various jungle animals, then I don’t know what could possibly make you feel joy.
