Jen Austin

It's fun to pick on the boys in the office, fun to play music, and fun to talk to you all day at work. Thanks for listening! I grew up in a one-stoplight town in rural Nebraska. My whole family still lives there and I love going back to visit them, but I also love Texas. Barbecue, fajitas, and great live music....it's the place to be. I've lived in Texas for 16 years now. Austin, Dallas, and here. I've worked in radio from the moment I graduated from college. (The University of Nebraska...Go Huskers!) I've been on a hundred stations at one point or another. I just love radio. Other things I love....let's see. Blue ink. Black bores me a bit. I love cheddar cheese and barbecue sauce and anything that the two happen to touch. I fall asleep in almost every movie I attempt to watch I have made it through Eat, Pray, Love and Mr. Wright. I like chick flicks. I have an awesome family and love spending time with them. You'll probably hear me talk about my daughters on the air. They're toddler girls who exhaust me, crack me up, and amaze me because I don't think I was ever that smart. I have two miniature schnauzers too. Thanks for stopping by. Now tell me about you.

Case Involving an Alaska Serial Killer Has Ties to East Texas

It's a story that has made national news. Earlier this week, accused serial killer Israel Keyes was found dead in his jail cell in Alaska after an apparent suicide.

He's accused of abducting, assualting, killing, and dismembering the body of an 18-year old barista who was kidnapped from a coffee stand last February.

In March, Keyes was arrested at the parking lot of a Cotton Patch Cafe in Lufkin after trying to use Samantha Koenig's stolen debit card.

Self-Gifting Is Big This Year

While you're out doing the holiday shopping and buying gifts for everyone else, are you tempted to splurge on something for yourself?

This idea of self-gifting was actually part of the sermon I heard at church yesterday, so I did a little more investigating and dug up some interesting facts.

My pastor said we'll spend on average, $75 on a gift for a close friend, $23 on an acquaintance, and $123 on a gift for ourselves. Tis the giving season! To ourselves apparently. A national newspaper says the self-spending total will be even higher - close to $200 per person.

Your Packages Are On the Way…Cyber Monday Sales Were HUGE

The Research firm ComScore says sales this past Monday were around $1.46 BILLION. That's up 17 percent from the $1.25 billion total of 2011. We spent dollars like crazy online Monday. Don't you wonder how much of that was done at work? We didn't get much done at work that day. We were too busy shopping.

The UPS guy has been to my house two days in a row with deliveries. Does anyone else have a little cyber guilt for all of the separate online orders? I feel bad the the UPS guy has to make separate trips for little packages here and there. I wonder if he sees my address and gets mad. Not again! Oh UPS man, there will be more where that came from. We may start setting out cookies and milk for you, Fed Ex, and the Post Office. We'll be seeing a lot of you over the next three weeks.
