Breakups are hard enough to sort through in private, but in the public eye, they're nearly impossible — just ask Bella Thorne, who says she got death threats after drama with Tyler Posey and Charlie Puth.

In a new interview with PeopleThorne explains breaking up with Posey — with whom she says she split in December 2016 — and proceeding to spend time with Puth amounted to some backlash from social media. Those insults compounded when Puth claimed that Thorne had been deceitful about her relationships, which she's vehemently denied.

"When I woke up that morning — it f------ sucks,” she said “It doesn’t feel good to think that everybody in the world just thinks you’re an absolutely disgusting person and just because I’m somebody where people know my name, it’s so much worse for me."

She added she was "getting death threats for a hot minute because they thought I had cheated on my ex, which is a total lie."

And Thorne urged social media users to be more sensitive, insisting that actors are no less immune to sadness and depression during tough times.

“People think that, like, we don’t get bullied in Hollywood — but we do! We get bullied by the public eye and fans and it’s really, let me tell you, it f—ing hurts,” she said. “You think that I’m not seeing these comments, but I do see them, and it doesn’t feel good. Especially when they’re lies! Then I’m, like, really hurt. At least if it was true, I would be like, ‘All right, all right, all right, okay.’ But, it’s not!"
