The family of the Nacogdoches deputy killed earlier this month in the line of duty has received an outpouring of support, but this may be the most powerful instance so far.  An 11-year old boy took what could have been his own college money, and gave every bit of it to Brad Jimmerson's family.

Nacogdoches County sheriff’s deputy Brad Jimmerson was killed in an accident on Highway 259 north (about seven miles north of Nacogdoches) while he was trying to remove debris from the roadway.  Deputy Jimmerson had been with NCSO for 19 years and in Law Enforcement for over 20 years.

Skeet Adams is a fifth grader in Douglass, and he decided to do something to honor Jimmerson's memory and help his family.

Adams decided to donate all of the money he made from selling his prize rabbits at the  Pineywoods Fair and might have surprised even himself with the amount of money that rolled in.  Word spread quickly about what Adams was doing with the money, and the bids just kept coming.  When it was all over, that pen of rabbits brought in $11,600.  And Adams didn't hold back anything for himself.  Every bit of it went to Jimmerson's family and fiancee.

Skeet's father, Jesse, said it's "about our community, our school, how we’re raising our children these days. It’s amazing he stepped up."

What a cool kid.

Meanwhile, the investigation into the crash is being conducted by the Texas Department of Public Safety Highway Patrol and we'll know more soon about what led up to the accident.  The funeral was held a week ago at Stephen F. Austin's William R. Johnson Coliseum.
