Britney Spears is making some big moves in her career and her personal life. Now it appears she wants to culminate her progress by ending the conservatorship she’s been under these last four years.

Radar Online reports that Spears feels she’s capable of doing it alone, but that her team is a little reluctant to let go of her father, Jamie Spears’, control over her life, especially when it comes to her beloved kids, Sean Preston and Jayden James.

A source told Radar, “Britney has said that she feels she is ready to resume control of her life. She has expressed this sentiment on multiple occasions, but her doctor believes that Britney isn’t ready for the conservatorship to be lifted. She has come a very long way in the last 18 months especially but her team wants more time. Yes, Britney does live on her own, with Jason, and her dad hasn’t lived under the same roof with her for years, but she just wants to be able to call her own shots,” the source revealed.

“Britney doesn’t have a problem with the conservatorship staying in place for her business,” the source added. “Remember, she doesn’t have any formal custodial rights as far as her children are concerned. Kevin has agreed to essentially joint custody, but in the eyes of the law, she has no rights, and Kevin can revoke the agreement that is in place at anytime because of the fact that Britney is still under conservatorship.”

Last week, it was reported that Britney met up with conservatorship judge Reva Goetz regarding a role on ‘X Factor‘ as a judge. Of course, now Simon Cowell is stating that she may not be the best person for the role.

Unfortunately, sources say Britney feels “powerless” in her fight against the restraints and confines of the conservatorship. “It looks like it won’t be ending anytime soon, but Britney feels that she is powerless to fight it. She has been on two wildly successful worldwide concert tours, has gotten engaged, and is now in talks to join a major television show — what more does she have to do to prove to people that she is ready to resume control of her life?” the source lamented. “Britney has been told Jamie’s lawyers could petition the judge for the conservatorship to end later this year, and not anytime sooner.”

We’re so thrilled that BritBrit is doing well! We hope she continues her progress and stays on the right  track. Until then, we’re going to trust that her father, doctors and legal team have her best interests in mind. They haven’t led her astray so far, so we doubt they’d start now.
