Call of Duty has been a very popular video game franchise. And in the 14th installment, Activision and Sledgehammer Games have taken the franchise back to where it started, World War II.

Only this time, the main character created for the game is Ronald "Red" Daniels of Longview, Texas.

Wait? What?

Ok, it's not based on a real person. I saw some comments when KLTV posted the story on their Facebook page thinking it's a real person. It's a fictional character.

But it is cool to think that the game developers thought of Longview as the hometown of their protagonist.

Actually, the character's first name, Ronald, and nickname, Red, comes from Sledgehammer Games co-founder Glen Schofield's father who passed away during the making of the game.

You can read the full bio of the East Texas character at callofduty.wikia.com.

I have not had a chance to play the game as of yet, but early reviews say it's pretty good.

It's nice to see the game franchise getting back to it's roots. The last couple of games in the series have had a futuristic theme.

If you haven't checked it out yet, watch the full trailer below.

And yes, zombie missions are back. This time as Nazi zombies.
