Conspiracy theories about the inner workings of most music groups (and just how eager individual members are to branch out as solo artists) are par for the course these days, but Fifth Harmony have been especially plagued with breakup rumors for the majority of their short time together. The group has denied these claims more than once, those rumors gain a little more traction online each time a member collaborates with another artist outside of the band: Enter Camila Cabello and her recent appearance on Diplo's Snapchat.

Early this morning (March 31), Camila popped up on the producer's account, playing a cover of Tracy Chapman’s “Fast Car.” Pretty innocuous, right? A few snaps later, she's seen standing at a studio microphone, staring into the camera before asking, “Oh, right now?" She then breathily whisper-sings "Major Lazer” into the microphone.

But there's no need to panic just yet! Camila's likely recording a guest feature on an upcoming Major Lazer track. It wouldn’t be the first time she struck out on her own, anyway. Camila previously collaborated with Shawn Mendes on his single “I Know What You Did Last Summer,” which initially left many Fifth Harmony fans speculating about the future of their beloved group.

“It’s very frustrating,” she said about the solo rumors. “It’s been very difficult to watch people criticize me and my intentions. It’s been sh–ty. They turned me [doing the song] into a conspiracy theory. We literally just wrote a song backstage, and it ended up becoming something awesome. It wasn’t a career move that I carefully planned out.”

Back in September 2015, Camila told Latina magazine she expected the group to end things at some point.

"We’d be lying if we all said this is a picture-perfect thing, like we all completely agreed on the album track list and what the sound and the music video treatment would be like, which usually happens in bands who grew up together,” she said. "But for manufactured bands, it’s harder.”

But for now, Harmonizers need not worry: Fifth Harmony are hard at work on their forthcoming second album 7/27which is due out on May 20.
