Henderson House Built in the 1800′s Offers Haunted Tours

Last year the East Texas Paranormal Group conducted an investigation into the 1855 Howard-Dickinson House in Henderson, and came up with some spooky findings.

Judy Sewell, executive director of the Henderson Area Chamber of Commerce, told the Tyler Morning Telegraph that the group's high tech equipment helped it encounter some spirits that other groups had not been able to detect before when simply spending the night without the high tech gadgets, and she said the spirits they found where friendly and not hostile.

Wanna encounter the spirits for yourself this weekend?

Today marks the start of early voting in Texas, and the Presidential election is expected to be a big draw. Voter turnouts are always higher in presidential election years than in years when we're not voting on a US President.

Simple Anti-Bullying Event Set for School Lunches October 30

When you were in school, did you always sit with the same group of kids at lunch? I remember sitting with different kids during elementary and middle school lunches, but by the time I reached high school I was in the habit of sitting with the same group every day.

In two weeks, students across East Texas and across the country will be encouraged to break the habits, and sit with kids they might not otherwise sit with. Click through to find out how to register your school, and let the world know your Tyler, or other area school is taking part.

Local Firefighters Take a Break to Fight Breast Cancer With ‘Bras for the Cause’

We're used to seeing firefighters in dangerous settings where their lives, and perhaps ours, are on the line. There are shooting flames, and smoke, and fire trucks and hoses.

But bras?

Last night in Tyler, local firefighters took a break from the front lines to get in touch with their feminine side and raise money and awareness for breast cancer at a Bras for the Cause event, with the Women's Council of Realtors.

What’s the Best Way to Trick-or-Treat in Texas?

Have you planned your Trick-or-Treating attack yet?

Most families seem to take the kids in costume to houses in their own neighborhoods, but others have been known to drive well out of their way just to hunt down the best candy. Once the word starts to spread that a neighborhood passes out full-size Snickers, that's where the mini-vans head!

So where are the best spots to Trick-or-Treat? Strangely enough, everywhere BUT Texas. Isn't everything supposed to be bigger here? Apparently the Halloween candy is not.

Oprah Brings Back “Favorite Things”

Each year around Thanksgiving on her talk show, Oprah passed out gift after gift on the "Favorite Things" episode and sent the audience into a complete frenzy. For us at home, it was an opportunity to get some great gift ideas, and perhaps to be completely jealous of those lucky audience members who would need a mid-sized truck to haul all of their new loot home.

Well guess what! Oprah may not have the talk show anymore, but she does have a network, and she's bringing back the Favorite Things show. And we have a chance to win without leaving the house.

Do You Have Firefighter Skills? Test Them in Tyler Next Week

Brookshire's Firefighter Combat Challenge is coming up Oct. 12 to 13 in Tyler, and it will give us a chance to see how we measure up to those beefy firefighting guys. We know there are plenty of in-shape gals that keep us safe from fires too and we appreciate it. They get a workout!

I know for one, I am not good at carrying a heavy fire hose any distance. I get mad when the garden hose gets a kink and won't untangle. Think you can beat the best?
