Former Penn State football coach Jerry Sandusky will spend the rest of his life behind bars after being sentenced Tuesday to 30 to 60 years in prison for his role in the Penn State sex-abuse case.
While last week gave us a number of exciting games (West Virginia/Baylor shootout, Texas’ controversial last-minute touchdown to beat Oklahoma State, Nebraska’s comeback win over Wisconsin, etc.), it was lacking in marquee games between ranked teams or conference rivals. But this week will make up for it in a big way with five games between ranked teams, including not one but two Top Ten matchups in the SEC.

September 28, 2012 Dodge ball has always been fun, but Ben Stiller gave it a popularity boost with the movie that came out in 2004. For awhile there, everyone was yelling out "Dodge ball!" randomly. Now that just makes you seem weird, but the movie is still worth the rental.
Next Saturday, there's a Dodge ball tournament coming to Tyler.
Just seven years removed from the cancelled 2004-05 season, the NHL is moving perilously close to another major work stoppage. The regular season is still scheduled to begin October 11, just two weeks away, but the owners, who locked the players out earlier this month, have now decided to fully cancel the preseason.
This does not bode well if you're a hockey fan.

The NFL and and the NFL Referees Association have agreed to a contract that will send referees back to the field this weekend, according to NFL.com.
NFL commissioner Roger Goodell said in a statement that the the refs will be back on the field starting with Thursday night's game between the Cleveland Browns and Baltimore Ravens
