It was a day that shook the Internet: hundreds of personal photos and videos allegedly hacked from dozens of celebrities’ personal phones and files were released on Aug. 31.

The leaks began on 4chan and spread like a wildfire as hundreds of nude and scantily clad photos supposedly featuring the likes of Jennifer Lawrence, Victoria Justice, Selena Gomez, Ariana Grande, Kate Upton, Kirsten Dunst, Teresa Palmer, Bar Rafaeli, Becca Tobin, Lea Michele, Mary Elizabeth Winstead and more were shared online.

A spokesman for Lawrence released the following statement: ”This is a flagrant violation of privacy. The authorities have been contacted and will prosecute anyone who posts the stolen photos of Jennifer Lawrence.”

Many online read the statement as an admission that the pics were real.

Becca Tobin of ‘Glee’ joked about her leaked nudes, which feature her decorating a Christmas tree in the buff.

Mary Elizabeth Winstead (‘Live Free or Die Hard,’ ‘Final Destination 3′) seemingly confirmed that her leaked nudes were real in a statement condemning the hackers.

“To those of you looking at photos I took with my husband years ago in the privacy of our home, hope you feel great about yourselves,” she wrote on Twitter. “Knowing those photos were deleted long ago, I can only imagine the creepy effort that went into this. Feeling for everyone who got hacked.”

Victoria Justice, meanwhile, denied on Twitter that her pics were real despite several photos released showing her face. The batch of photos allegedly from Justice’s private files also show her clothed as well.

“These so called nudes of me are FAKE people. Let me nip this in the bud right now. *pun intended*” she wrote to fans.

Ariana Grande responded to a fan’s question about her photos and claims they are not real.

The hacker who first leaked the photos alleges that he or she has hundreds more to release to the Internet.
