Just about anywhere you go in East Texas you see them right now, crickets! They congregate around light poles, buildings, parking lots, homes and more and apparently the conditions have been just right this summer for a cricket population explosion, and that they have! We went to the East Texas Fair last weekend and these little creatures were EVERYWHERE! A lot of them were around the trailers for the rides and quite a few more didn't survive the jump from one location to another. I also noticed them when dropping off my wife's car at Jack 'O Diamonds Honda last week. These little black things were all over their building and parking lot too.

On the outside they're pretty harmless but man can they be annoying. Somehow one of them got into my house and he started chirping! It was slow, but once he warmed up, it was a full on concert! This lone cricket, or so I hope it is, started with just a single chirp, then a few minutes later another followed by another and then after about twenty minutes of this on/off deal, it was a full on concert, ALL NIGHT LONG!

I have a general idea of where the little guy is, but of course when you go to investigate, he stops! He's in the kitchen somewhere and my guess is he's behind the cabinets or in the wall somewhere. It's frustrating because his (or her) little chirp is high pitched, constant and annoying! Thankfully when I went to bed I could hear it, but when I got up this morning, there it was, the constant chirping of the cricket!

I have to find this little guy and get him out of the house and stop him and his friends from returning because that chirp is ANNOYING! According to Home Remedy Hacks I've learned there are a few tricks to ridding my house of this little pest! Some of the ways to get rid of crickets in your home are:

  • Place molasses in a small bowl to attract them
  • regular bug spray
  • reduce bright lighting (it attracts them)
  • set out glue traps
