Chris Brown Says Frank Ocean Used ‘Sympathy’ to Snag His Grammy

Just a few days after publicly saying he respects Frank Ocean‘s music and lulling America into thinking his life would now be something other than a series of feuds and/or offensive statements, Chris Brown is back in action — and by “action,” of course, we mean dissing his enemies and bragging about his sex life with Rihanna.

As Hip Hop DX reports, Brown used a recent interview with Hot 97′s Angie Martinez to throw a little extra shade at Ocean, with whom he engaged in a recording studio brawl several weeks ago.

“There’s a lot of strategies people try to use when they’re up for awards,” observed Brown of the Grammy-winning Ocean. “You know? It’s the sympathy role. I don’t have to go that route. I just do my music and do my thing. For [Ocean], it’s whatever. Love your music, bro! Have fun.”

Struggling with the cognitive dissonance of a compliment preceded by a dis, Martinez asked Brown if he really does enjoy Ocean’s music, to which Brown responded with a helpful “Nah.”

Talk then turned to Drake, another artist who’s engaged in fisticuffs with Brown: “Me and Drake. I can say his name. I don’t care. We’re never gonna see eye to eye.”

Brown can say Drake’s name, but he probably won’t ever have time to bring it up with Rihanna. When Martinez asked him how she feels about his beef with Drake, Brown gathered up every ounce of suave sophistication he could muster and responded, “I don’t really try to talk about about him when I’m around her. I just do my thing. I just lay the pipe. I don’t talk… I don’t pillow talk.”

When not laying pipe, Brown has been known to occasionally take a moment to make music with Rihanna — and as he recently told MTV, fans can expect to hear more from the duo’s (singing) pipes soon. Explaining that he wrote a song for them called ‘Put It Up’ (“You know what ‘It’ is, so just ‘put it up,’”) that’ll be on his new album, ‘X.’

“I wanted to do an R&B record with Rihanna because I didn’t want it to be the same four-on-the-floor, pop,” he pointed out. “At the end of the day, that’s what they expect from us, so I wanted to do more of a record that nobody really heard her sing on as far as that genre.”

By MTV’s count, that gives us four Brown/Rihanna duets and counting, which is almost enough for an EP. Agreeing that a joint release “might be crazy,” Brown teased, “You gotta wait though. ‘X’ and then you get the Rihanna and Chris Brown album!”
