It will now cost you a penny more for a first-class stamp. Sunday the U.S. Postal service raised their rates to 46-cent.

The U.S. Postal Service is following through with their announcement in October of last year that they would be raising the cost of a stamp and other postage in effort to boost revenue as the postal service continues to struggle finically.

Last year the postal service decided to merge a number of processing centers including facilities in Tyler and East Texas that will move operations to a processing center in the Dallas Area.

Post office hours have also been cut and thousands of employees were forced to take retirements or re-locate to other locations.

USPS has been pressing Congress for finical aid to keep the agency afloat, but so far no resolution has been reached.
