Magic!, this dad would like to have a word with you, please.

The Canadian band has taken off with their radio hit ‘Rude,’ so of course the song has fallen on the ears of countless dads. Is it any surprise that one dad decided to pen a response? He’s got a rep to uphold!

For those who aren’t familiar with the track’s message, ‘Rude’ is about a guy asking his girlfriend’s dad for permission to marry her. The father gives a very stern no, and the guys in Magic! go on to tell the dad to quit being so rude.

In Benji Cowart’s response, written to the tune of the song to which he’s referring, he explains that he’s being rude for a very good reason. The dad sings, “You say you want my daughter for the rest of your life / But you’ve gotta make more than burgers and fries / Get out your mama’s basement, go and get you a ride / Son, you’re 28, don’t you think it’s time?”

The hilarious follow-up song is written in good fun, of course. Even Justin Bieber’s mom Pattie thinks so! (Can we expect a mom version soon?)
