The competition is heating up on Week 3 of 'Dancing With the Stars' and our two pop competitors are killing it, improving and wowing us each and every week. It was all about jive and jazz.

Last night (March 31), James Maslow and Peta rocked the jive, dressed in their school uniform best, while Cody Simpson got in a little not-so-shameless self-promotion via his jazz routine.

James and Peta were absolutely kinetic when they did the jive to Jimmy Eat World's 'The Middle' -- the "Everything's gonna be alright, alright" song. The hot-footed twosome swirled around and got in the faces of the judges. They even faked a kiss at the end. Oooh, steamy! The judges loved it, saying that James and Peta are proving themselves to be real contenders.

Simpson got in a little self-promo by dancing the jazz with Witney to his new single 'Surfboard,' which ended with the twosome propped on the judging table. The judges felt that that their footwork and their version of this time-honored dance was so "right now" and was "jazz for now." The judges ate it up, literally, with Carrie Ann Inaba mimicking a chomp while critiquing them. It was reminiscent of a boy band-like routine, but it was tightly choreographed.

We had faith that Maslow and Simpson would make us proud but they are exceeding our expectations each and every week. Go boys!
