If you've fallen a little behind on sleep, then this is the weekend you look forward to every year because we're all getting an extra hour of sleep this weekend as daylight saving time comes to an end.

With the changing of the clock comes daylight for the kids to catch the bus in the morning, but less time for them to play outside in the afternoon but that can lead to more time indoors working on homework though! So you stay on track with everyone else (except Arizona and Hawaii) remember when you go to bed Saturday night go ahead and set that clock back one hour and when you wake on Sunday morning you'll feel refreshed and ready to attack the second half of the weekend thanks to the extra hour of sleep!

Daylight Saving Time will actually end at 2am on Sunday, but why the change? Thanks to Askville at Amazon.com, the simple main reason for DST is to take advantage of the daylight (sunlight) hours. For many people that work outside, this is very important. It is even more important the farther north that one goes. Daylight hours are at a premium with our northern States in the fall and winter seasons. It also saves on energy and electric power as well. With the ever increasing rise in energy costs, this is very important to many people, especially small businesses.

So here's to getting an extra hour of sleep this weekend!

While you're changing your clock this weekend, it's also a good time to change the batteries (or at least check them) in your smoke detectors in your home and business.
