Demi Lovato Breaks Up … With Twitter

Unbroken and outspoken, Demi Lovato has been a pretty prolific Twitter user since she signed up. In fact, it’s how not only her fans, but also the media follow the goings on in her life — especially her love life.

While Lovato’s never come out and admitted to dating Wilmer Valderrama, her micro-blogging activity hints that whatever was going on has gone kaput. Since those stories started to spread, Lovato’s taken a hiatus from the site.

“Can’t please everyone,” Lovato tweeted cryptically on Saturday (Jan. 21). She immediately followed it with an announcement of her departure from the site. “Twitter break. It’s for the best actually. Who allows me to have this thing anyways?!!! I just get myself in trouble! Haha. Anyway… BYE!”

Lovato’s almost as famous for her Twitter presence as she is for her hits. In December, Lovato used Twitter to lash out at Disney for making an eating disorder joke on ‘Shake It Up.’ This month, Lovato’s tweets sparked speculation that she and the much-older Valderrama split. “The smartest thing a woman can ever learn, is to never need a man,” she wrote, after retweeting a quote from Marilyn Monroe about how a “wise girl kisses but doesn’t love, listens but doesn’t believe, and leaves before she is left.” Further, the same day, Lovato posted, “Loyalty is EVERYTHING.. I’m thankful for my friends who stand by my side.”

Earlier this month, Lovato posted more vague messages about strife in her life. One day, she posted, “Not tweeting much because I’m on a mini-vacation enjoying my time away from everything. Hope you guys understand.” Later the same week, Lovato got spiritual, asking God why he posed so many obstacles for her. “Sometimes it seems like God just keeps throwing crap my way and I get SO angry with him,” she tweeted. “But there’s never a doubt in my mind He’s gonna pull me through it all. I know you’re there God. But umm… Really dude?”

Here’s hoping that Lovato makes a swift return, because we love reading her updates — especially when they’re positive. Chin up, girl!
