Demi Lovato may be new to the ‘X Factor‘ panel, but she handles her judging duty like an old pro. Case in point: She politely and tactfully chewed out two contestants who made really inappropriate remarks about drugs during an audition.

TMZ reports that Lovato got really peeved at a pair of hip-hop hopefuls at the North Carolina auditions. The audience couldn’t hear the rappers’ lyrics, but Lovato could — and she was really displeased when they blurted, “I’m high on bath salts.” Despite Simon Cowell describing Demz as “catty” and Demz herself calling herself “bratty,” she reportedly handled it with both firmness and diplomacy.

Lovato reportedly told the wannabe emcees, “It’s really inappropriate to rap about drugs in front of kids.” The crowd agreed, then booed the rappers off the stage, preventing them from even getting judged for the competition.

It makes sense that Lovato would be sensitive to drug references. The starlet has been beyond open about her time in rehab for drugs, eating disorders and self-harm. She said of her substance abuse, “Promoters gave me drugs and alcohol in restaurants or clubs. They wanted me to come back so I would be seen there … I thought I was having fun. Being a celebrity can be dangerous. Nobody says ‘no’. That’s why so many end up overdosing and dying. It could definitely have happened to me.”

We think she made a smart decision not just for her work, but also in standing up for what she believes in and has taken so long to overcome. Good girl, Demi!
