Yes, in case you haven't stumbled across it until now, Downtown Tyler has a really cool sports bar. The SportsZone is located on Erwin between Spring and Broadway.

It's a laid back atmosphere, where at least one game - if not several, is always on. Right now, of course that means the Olympics, but football season is right around the corner.

Not only can you watch the game while you're there, but you can also play games. Our friends like hang out and play Golden Tee, a virtual golf game, as well as throw darts at the electronic board.

They even have their own house shot, a 'Rat, Cat, Dog.' Where does the name come from? You'll have to ask one of the regulars. I'm sure they would love to share the story!

A great chance for you to check out the SportsZone will be during the Heart of Tyler Promotions Committee's new event, 'A Toast to Downtown Tyler,' set for Tuesday, Aug. 23, from 5-7 pm.

"We're working with local businesses to provide discounts to patrons who come in on a weeknight for some fun downtown," Promotions Committee Chair Emily Kendall said. "We are offering a raffle tickets to those who stop by, and we'll draw for prizes during the event."
