One man is dead after a fight between a couple turned ugly inside a Dallas area mall yesterday afternoon.

Lewisville police officers were sent to Vista Ridge Mall off of I-35 and MacArthur Blvd around 4:00 p.m. yesterday to help resolve a domestic dispute between a man and a woman. Reports state that the woman was an employee at the mall.

Mall security had been contacted and were escorting the 25 year old out of the mall when he pulled a handgun from his clothing and shot himself near the courtyard in the center of the mall. The gun was tucked away and not visible to bystanders or security. Officers said at no point did he threaten to shoot bystanders or the security walking him out.

The man was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead. His name is not being released until his next of kin is notified. Since it was an apparent suicide, and no one else was harmed, stores in the mall remained open until it's normal closing hours.
