Dodge ball has always been fun, but Ben Stiller gave it a popularity boost with the movie that came out in 2004. For awhile there, everyone was yelling out "Dodge ball!" randomly. Now that just makes you seem weird, but the movie is still worth the rental.

Next Saturday, there's a Dodge ball tournament coming to Tyler.

The annual Dodge Ball Tournament, benefiting Parent Services Center, happens from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 6 at the First Christian Church gym, 4202 S. Broadway Ave.

Winning teams get bragging rights sure, but there are also prizes including fitness club memberships, season passes to UT Tyler sporting events, restaurant certificates and movie passes. There also will be prizes for best costumes and best team spirit.

You can register teams of six or eight for $150.

And if you're like me, always looking to keep the kids busy, they'll have a bounce house there and a clown to keep them entertained.

All proceeds will support the ongoing programs of Parent Services Center, including the Autism Network.

To sign up a team call 903-595-2235 or hit parentservicescenter.org.
