It's going to be a festival unlike any other in East Texas! Dogtoberfest will combine craft brewing and animal adoption into one big one day event!

In an effort to bring awareness to the pet over population and pet homeless problem in East Texas, the SPCA of East Texas has morphed the annual Petapalooza event into a festival that will feature craft beer sampling, food, live music, kids events and pet services and adoptions on Saturday, October 1st! The event will be free and will be held behind Gander Mountain in south Tyler. During the past four years more than 100 animals found new homes each year thanks to Petapalooza and this year they are looking to increase that number during Dogtoberfest.

Beginning at 10 a.m. and running until 3 p.m., you can visit with all the animals from the SPCA of East Texas shelter along with others from area animal rescue groups. When you visit with these homeless animals, you're bound to fall in love with at least one of them!

In addition to checking out adoptable animals, you can sample more than a dozen craft beers, eat from area food trucks and restaurants, there will be activities for the kids, like bounce houses and face painting, and live music too. Craft beer sampling will require a ticket and can be purchased for $10 in advance or $15 the day of the event.

For your pets, there will be low cost vaccinations available and you can get your pet microchipped or a new name tag for a nominal fee.
