Dumb Crook of the Week: Mail Thief Steals Cockroaches
Let me set the scene with some possible thoughts and actions of this week's dumb crook.
Thief - "Dude, this box looks like it's got a Playstation 4 in it."
Takes box. Gets in car. Opens box.
Car is filled with cockroaches. Instant karma achieved.
That's most likely not how it went down but a California mail thief was for sure extremely surprised to find that his pillaging produced a box of 500 cockroaches.
I can already hearing you laughing.
According to newswest9.com, Rosalinda Vizina, an entomologist who is currently doing a study on cockroaches, had them stolen from her mailbox.
"I feel bad for the roaches if they got smushed or tossed or something like that. For the thieves, I hope they went everywhere,” Vizina said.
I think it's safe to say that happened when those thieves opened that box. Why couldn't we all be there to see their reaction? If videoed, the replay factor would be through the roof.
There has been a string of mail thefts in her neighborhood in Marina, California. This time of year is particularly perilous since folks are waiting on their W-2's that contain lots of personal information that can be used for identity theft.
But here is a PSA for any mail crook out there - That package that you think may have some expensive or cool item isn't what's always inside. Could be cockroaches, could be exploding poop, could be a brick just so you can look even more stupid when you open it in front of your other thief buddies. Hence why you would be labeled as a dumb crook, because you are.
