Without a doubt I've got a sweet tooth! If it's sweet, I'll usually eat it, especially if it's a sugar based candy like peppermints, taffy, butterscotch rounds, orange slices, Skittles, SweetTarts and the like. Now don't get me wrong, I won't turn down chocolate based candies, I'll eat them up with just as quick! If I'm ever in need of freshly made local candy, I don't have to look far because there are some big name candy companies right here in East Texas cranking out some of my favorites and distributing them globally!

Seeing the lineup of candy coming out of Lufkin reminds me of my childhood of when we would go to the Mesquite Rodeo on Friday and Saturdays when I was 8 or 9 years old and grabbing a Chick-O-Stick and the peanut butter bars and eating them while watching the rodeo. I had no idea that my childhood favorites were made right here in East Texas! In addition to the peanut butter bars and Chick-O-Sticks, Atkinson also creates a variety of sugary goodness with flavored button (or disc) candy, striped candy poles, brittle, caramel candies and more. If you've been to any bank in Lufkin there's no doubt you've had some candy given to you from Atkinson's!

Atkinson's is located at 1608 W. Frank Ave. in Lufkin and you can reach them by phone at 936.639.2333.
