A 2.7 magnitude earthquake struck Thursday night south of Timpson, the site of two other earthquakes the past week and a total of nine since May 2012.

The U.S. Geological Survey reports the quake hit around 3:20 p.m. Thursday, two miles south of Timpson in Shelby County.

Authorities did not have any reports of damage or injuries.

On Tuesday, Jan 29th, a 2.8 earthquake was reported near Timpson and a 4.1 magnitude earthquake was reported January 25, also south of Timpson.
