Competition is healthy for everyone and fun too! One of the highlights from this coming weekend will be the 16th annual East Texas Wheelchair Games. Although they may depend upon the use of a wheelchair or be confined to one doesn't mean the person doesn't like to compete.

This years' special event will be happening at Rose Stadium in Tyler on Saturday, May 17th beginning at 1p. Track and field events will be highlighted and feature participants in manual and electric wheelchairs and will include the following: a 50 meter, 100 meter, 200 meter and 400 meter dash, shot put, discus, a 200 meter team relay, bowling and hand cycling.

Special events will be held for those in electric wheelchairs like the club throw, archery, 50 meter and 200 meter dash and a wheelchair rally too.

There is no registration fee to participate and the event is open to all ages. For more details on this special event, contact John Mitchell at 903.566.0937 or Tyler Parks and Recreation at 903.595.7271.
