Sneaky, sneaky Ed Sheeran! Everyone's favorite redheaded Brit dropped by Welsh radio station 106.3 Bridge FM recently -- and he hinted at some pretty huge One Direction news.

It all started when host Sam Vaughan asked the 'Sing' crooner about his recent tweets, in which Sheeran revealed he was writing songs and working on new music. Of course, the host had to wonder: Is the 'A Team' singer -- whose sophomore album 'X' drops June 23 -- already working on new material for himself?

"No, actually, the track I did last night was for a certain boy band," Sheeran explained to Vaughan. (Listen to the clip above!) A "certain" boy band? That sounds like a massive hint if we've ever heard one...

"Well, I'm seeing their big boss tonight," Sheeran continued. "I'm having dinner with him and playing some songs so hopefully it works out."

So, is that "big boss" and that "certain boy band" Simon Cowell and One Direction?

"I couldn't possibly comment," Sheeran replied, laughing.

It certainly sounds like it is! And it wouldn't be that big of a stretch, either. Not only is Sheeran good friends with the British-Irish group, but he's also penned tunes for them before, including 1D's hit 'Little Things' -- which totally has that Ed Sheeran stamp on it.

Be sure to keep it here on PopCrush for the latest details on the possible new Ed Sheeran/1D collab, and tune into BridgeFM on June 20 to hear the full interview with Ed Sheeran!
