Eminem has been through plenty of ups and downs in his career and most of it was well-documented in the media. From his bitter divorce with his ex-wife, Kimberly Scott, to his bout with drug addiction, his life was an open book. During his surprise set at the G-Shock 30th Anniversary event in New York, Em thanked his fans for their support.

According to Fox News, the Detroit rhyme-slinger stopped for a moment to express his gratitude to his followers who stood by his side during those dark times.

“The show is dedicated tonight to anybody who’s been through personal struggles,” he told the roaring crowd. “And also to anybody who came out here tonight, who’s an Eminem fan, I just want to say ‘thank you.’ Because I know I couldn’t have gotten through that dark place without y’all.” Afterward, Em went into a rendition of ‘Not Afraid,’ his inspirational anthem from his best-selling rap album ‘Recovery.’

Eminem perform over a dozen songs at the G-Shock event, including ‘My Name Is,’ ‘Love the Way You Lie,’ ‘I Need a Doctor’ and ‘Lose Yourself.’ Before Em’s surprised concert set, Slaughterhouse rocked the mic and performed tunes from their upcoming album ‘Welcome to: Our House,’ which hits stores on Aug. 28.
