East Texas will start receiving mail today (August 13) now that a processing center has reopened following a hazmat situation last week.

According to the Dallas News, the North Texas Processing and Distribution Center shut down on August 7 after a package containing mercury spilled, causing a hazmat situation. This affected many in North Texas, including some of us in East Texas.

KLTV reports that The United States Post Office announced the mail center is again open and is working to restore normal operations, stating in part in a USPS news release:

We apologize to customers who may have experienced temporary service issues and assure them that we continue to make progress every day toward restoring normal operations.  We appreciate the patience and understanding of our customers, suppliers, and mailing partners.
