Ewan McGregor is in negotiations to join the cast of Gavin O'Connor's 'Jane Got a Gun,' which would (hopefully) put an end to the production's endless troubles. He would be starring with his former 'Star Wars' castmate Natalie Portman.

Deadline reports that McGregor would be filling the recently-exited shoes of Bradley Cooper, who was attached to play the villain in the film after both Michael Fassbender and Jude Law left the production. Portman (who is also producing) will play the lead role of a woman who's husband is an outlaw, and when he gets shot up he returns home. Her husband's ex-partners (led by McGregor) plan to finish him off, so to protect herself she partners with an old flame (played by Joel Edgerton) who's also an able gunslinger.

If McGregor signs on, it appears that he would be the last hiccup for the production, as the film had not only lost Cooper, Fassbender and Law, but also its original director Lynne Ramsay. Perhaps best known for his turn as Obi-Wan Kenobi in the 'Star Wars' prequels, McGregor has been steadily working since in pictures big and small. Last year he was in the Oscar hopeful 'The Impossible,' while earlier this year he was in Bryan Singer's 'Jack the Giant Slayer.'
