Hey gals, out there in the cruel dating world, I have a question for you. Do you think chivalry dead? Case in point -- a guy takes you out on a great first date, and then he leans in and sweetly asks you to split the check. WHAT?!

Research by FridayFriday.com found that more than 50 percent of men do prefer to split the check on dates -- even on first dates.

As of matter of fact, the survey says one out of five men think that women paying for "portions" of the date like a round of drinks, is fair.  There is even evidence that 5% of men have no problem with the woman paying for the entire date. One third of the men surveyed did say they would pay for all of the first date.

Financial woes these days is the the leading cause of chivalry taking a backseat. Get this, more than 90% of men say that if their date is a "loser," they will end the date early, to save money. Apparently men are worried about their finances more then about the impression they make on a first date.

Now this is a statement, for me personally, that is just plain wrong. A spokesman for the survey said:

Some of those [men] surveyed pointed to the fact that the gap between male and female pay was still shrinking and therefore it wasn’t unreasonable to expect some money on their part.”

So what do you think? Take the poll below and let us know.
