Wildlife and animal control officials are alerting residents in flooded areas in East Texas that wild animals (snakes, fire ants, etc.) are being drawn out because of the flooding in East Texas.

Longview animal control officer Chris Kemper told KLTV, "When we get this type of flooding, the wildlife has to find high ground. It has to find a place where it can avoid the water, avoid the flood areas and that often times flushes them out into more populated areas than they normally would be in."

Do not play in flood waters. Water could be filled with these animals but also could be dirty or contain sewage.

If you see any of these wild animals in your area, contact your local animal control to take care of the issue.
