Authorities in Texas found four children malnourished between the ages of one to five years old on a property near the town of Rhome Tuesday (February 12th), two were locked in a dog cage.

According to KLTV, law enforcement officers responded to a domestic disturbance when the found the children in the barn.  The two other children were found with urine and feces smeared on them.

Wise County Sheriff Lane Akin said the barn has been, quote, "crudely" made into a living area, stating,

There was plenty of food inside the barn, but the refrigerator and the cabinets had been locked so the kids could not get in to get food.

The two oldest children, ages five and four, were locked in a 3-foot-by-foot dog cage, and the two youngest, ages 1 and 3, were partially dressed and filthy.

Twenty-four-year old Andrew Fabila and Paige Harkings were arrested and each charged with four counts of criminal and child endangerment.
