Just about any day could probably be Taco Day in Texas, but we'll have an official reason to celebrate next week.  National Taco Day is coming, and that will mean the deals and freebies will be hitting our favorite East Texas taco shops.

National Taco Day is coming up Thursday, October 4th, and if last year's rundown of deals is any indication, this is going to be a day that we'll need breakfast, lunch, and dinner tacos to squeeze them all in.  That's just an ordinary Thursday for some of us.  No problem.

Taco Bell has already announced they're planning to bring back the $5 National Taco Day Gift Box next week.  That was offered last year too, and it includes a Crunchy Taco and three Doritos Locos tacos. The only issue is calling it a "gift box" because at least two of those tacos will probably be gone by the time this fun little gift gets to the recipient.  Maybe it's a gift to yourself.  The $5 National Taco Day Gift Set will be available at participating locations on October 4th only, and then it's gone.

Last year on National Taco Day, Chuy’s gave out a free crispy beef taco with the purchase of an entrée if you asked your server to “taco bout it.”  Oh, Chuy's you are so good at the witty one-liners.  We love you for those, and for that creamy jalapeno dip and for the hubcaps on the ceiling.  This will be a good spot to celebrate National Taco Day too.

Applebees had $1 margaritas at participating locations.

Taco Bueno offered a free taco with any purchase.

Taco Cabana had half price chicken fajita tacos at participating locations.

Fuzzy’s Taco Shop offered $1 tacos all day on most of the Baja tacos.

We're a little over a week away from this year's National Taco Day, and you know more deals will be announced as we get closer.  We're gonna eat tacos anyway, but it's nice to save money in the process.

Coincidentally, October 4th is also National Vodka Day.  So Friday, October 5th might be a call-in-sick-to-work-day because we'll be full and sluggish.

So, which is better, the hard or soft shell?  Beans or no beans?  "Taco 'bout it" with your friends and let us know.  The possibilities are endless.
