Until now, the elder Bush has strayed from making his political preferences in the upcoming Presidential election known.  However, that appears to have changed according to Kathleen Hartington Kennedy Townsend, the former Maryland lieutenant governor and daughter of the late Robert F. Kennedy.

On Monday, Townsend posted a picture on her Facebook page, showing her shaking hands with the 41st President of the U.S. and captioned it "The President told me he's voting for Hillary!"

Bush, 92, has not endorsed Donald Trump.  In fact, the entire Bush clan has avoided contact with the Trump campaign, even electing to not attend the Republican National Convention this year.

Politico asked a Bush spokesman to confirm the news that the President will, in fact, be voting for a Democrat this year.  By email, Jim McGrath responded, ""The vote President Bush will cast as a private citizen in some 50 days will be just that: a private vote cast in some 50 days. He is not commenting on the presidential race in the interim."

Bush's Vice President, Dan Quayle, however, has formerly endorsed Donald Trump.  When asked this summer about the Bush family's refusal to do the same, Quayle said, "Clearly in their heart of hearts I should hope they would want a Republican president, but they can speak for themselves,"
