It's pretty comical that we turn to a rodent to predict our weather! At 7:25 a.m. today, Punxsutawney Phil was pulled out of the comfort of his warm burrow to tell us if spring was going to arrive early or if winter would be sticking around a little longer.

Despite an overcast sky in Punxsutawney, Pa., the world's most beloved prognosticator, Punxsutawney Phil, did indeed see his shadow predicting we're in for another six weeks of winter, so don't put away your winter coats just yet.

His prediction from last year was "verified" when winter held its grip on much of the nation through early March. Although his accuracy is a bit in question most years, according to Accuweather, he's got an accuracy rate of 80 percent!

This little guy has been calling the weather since 1887. During this time he's seen his shadow 101 times and only not seen his shadow 17 times.

In addition to Punxsutwaney Phil, there are groundhogs out there predicting when spring might arrive -- there's General Beau Lee in Atlanta; Wiarton Willie in Ontario, Canada; Sir Walter Wally in Raleigh, N.C.; Jimmy in Sun Prairie, Wisc.; Staten Island Chuck in New York City, and Birmingham Bill in Birmingham, Ala.

It already feels as if Punxuatawney Phil's prediction is true thanks to the cold front that moved through yesterday and waking up to freezing temperatures this morning. I can only hope that his prediction will fall into the 20% category of being wrong, because I'm ready for Spring!
