A Tyler man arrested in Mississippi has admitted to robbing 11 banks across North Texas.

Steven Ray Milam pleaded guilty Tuesday to 11 counts of bank robbery in federal court in Dallas.

Prosecutors had said the 44-year-old Milam was the “Handsome Guy Bandit” described by tellers at the banks he robbed. The name came from the mask tellers said the robber wore.

A statement from the U.S. attorney’s office in Dallas says Milam can receive from 32 years to life in prison when U.S. District Judge Sam Lindsay sentences him on Sept. 17 in Dallas.

Milam was arrested Jan. 3 in Mississippi after a chase on Interstate 10 in which Jackson County Sheriff Mike Byrd shot out a tire on the vehicle Milam was driving.

Milam lived in Tyler and owned Monumental Memorials on Highway 155.
