Heart of Tyler Annual Meeting Set for Tuesday, Jan. 20

Heart of Tyler's Annual Meeting and celebration of downtown revitalization will take place at 6 p.m. Tuesday (Jan. 20), at Martin Walker Law Firm, 121 N. Spring Street.

The meeting will begin with a social hour at 6, followed by a business meeting at 7 p.m. The event, which is free and open to the public, is an opportunity to learn more about how Heart of Tyler servers as an advisory board on downtown revitalization matters.

“We are so grateful that Martin Walker is opening its doors to us for the annual meeting,” Beverly Abell said. “Every year we try to choose a setting that highlights recent accomplishments and renovations, and their location is perfect, given the amazing work they have done on the building in recent months.”

Achievements in 2014 will be recognized during the event which include three “Best in Texas” awards from the Texas Downtown Association. The meeting will also recognize new businesses, events and renovations in the downtown area. New board members will be elected, and those outgoing will be honored as well.

One outstanding person or entity will receive the Brick Award, which is given to someone who has demonstrated outstanding service to the cause of downtown Tyler revitalization.

As the evening concludes, President Elect Shane Rohrbach will highlight projects and goals for 2015.
