Are you a supporter of small buiness? Then the Heart of Tyler has a great event for you this afternoon in Downtown Tyler. Join the Cash Mob as they target Salon Verve and 8th Street Boutique from 4:30-7 p.m. Wondering what a Cash Mob is, and how you can be a part of it?

“The idea of a Cash Mob in general is to show our support in a very visible and tangible way for small, locally owned businesses,” said Tyler Main Street Department Leader Beverly Abell. “We are asking the public to come to 8th Street Boutique and Salon Verve with $20 or whatever you can afford in- hand, ready to spend that cash in support and appreciation of these locally owned businesses that provide jobs, tax dollars and so much more for this community.”

The idea originated in 2011 on the east coast, and swiftly spread throughout the country and around the world. Downtown Tyler brought the first Cash Mob to Tyler in March 2012, and has held two since.

“Cash Mobs are a fun, immediate-impact way of supporting downtown and our locally owned businesses,” said Abell. “We can’t stress enough how important it is for downtown revitalization fans to come out and support our businesses not only for Cash Mob, but every other day of the year as well. These businesses provide crucial employment and services to the community, and they deserve our support and appreciation.”

Salon Verve and 8th Street Boutique are both located on the square on East Erwin. Abell said Cash Mob participants will be able to find items at both businesses. “Mobbers will have the opportunity to purchase everything from hair care products to accessories, shoes, jewelry, clothing and so much more.”
