Heart of Tyler members will celebrate the successes of 2017 and look to the future of Downtown Tyler during an annual meeting at 6 p.m. Thursday at 108 S. Broadway Ave.

It’s an exciting time for Downtown Tyler.

Investments downtown topped $200 million since 2007. Ongoing revitalization and construction projects continue, and several other projects are slated to begin this year.

Heart of Tyler members will meet to review the past year's accomplishments, present plans for projects upcoming and introduce the organization’s new president and elect new board and executive board members.

The organization will also recognize its latest recipient of the Heart of Tyler Brick Award. The organization’s Brick Award is an annual award given to a person, organization or business that has demonstrated outstanding support of Downtown Tyler revitalization.

The Heart of Tyler Main Street Program is Tyler's only 501©3 non-profit organization solely dedicated to the economic, cultural and historic revitalization of Downtown Tyler. The organization works in association with the City of Tyler, the Texas Main Street Program of the Texas Historical Commission and the National Main Street Center of the National Trust for Historic Preservation.

There have been many success stories to celebrate over the past 28 years.

“Momentum continues to build downtown,” said Heart of Tyler President Mandee Montana. “New businesses, continued revitalization efforts and new investment make this an exciting time for Heart of Tyler and for us to look back at 2017 and what we can look forward to in the very near future.”

Heart of Tyler has been the driving force behind the design and creation of the Cotton Belt Crossing Gate, lighting improvements in the district and an integral force for development of the arts in Downtown Tyler, recipient of the most awards of any city from the Texas Downtown Association conference, assisting dozens of property owners with design services, creation of events such as 6x6@110, the Downtown Tyler Wine Swirl, the award-winning Black Tie Bingo, Toast to Downtown Tyler and so much more.
